Hey everyone,
This is a thread where I want to hear from everyone on the crew to see what you all think.
How do we handle new applicants? There has been a little issue with that for awhile now, I mean, we HAVE to come up with a good way to do it.
At first I was toying around with making everyone on the crew a Moderator (without any powers) because I can limit board posting to MODS only.
This would solve a problem if we got someone on the board who wasn't as respectful to that as DarkMaverick6, and believe me, they'll come.
On the other hand, doing so would have prevented someone like Lonewolfe from being on the crew. As you all remember, Lone showed up out of the blue one day in the break room asking for work.
As you can see, I am at odds. How do you think we should do this guys? Tell me!

hmm. GOod question. Well, I am not sure I like the mod idea, cause then we wouldn't have people like Lone. Of course it would get rid of people Like DarkMaverik6. But what ever happened to that one kid who wanted to join? Anyway.. the best solution I can see. is add an application thread to the general disscusion area and have people fill out aplications. maybe make it so only the newscast RPG board is a mod post only. then when we get a new application we can handle it from there.

I say we rig it so that only we can post in the Newscast forum, if possible, and then as others join the forum as a whole we can monitor them on the General Discussion threads. Once we decide whether or not they're cool, we can collectively decide if it would be okay for them to join. Then, if we like them enough, we give them the ability to post on the Newscast forum.
I don't know if this is possible, but I think something to that effet would be best.

I really like the idea of an MSN interview with the crew. Being that we all use MSN, it would be pretty convenient for all of us to use that method. Sure, some use it more than others, but I guess the main idea is that we'll really get to know the person better if we have a chat with them, and lay down what it means to be a member. As such, I propose we enstate a few rules:
1. When you become a Newscast member, you're a member for life. The only way out is death. And trust me, it won't be pretty.
2. The whole purpose of Newscast is to have fun. Things like the laws of nature or physical limitations can be discarded if you'd like as long as you keep things interesting and fun. Killing off a main bad guy with a single, effortless blow is not fun. Neither is magically dissapearing out of any difficult situations and being generally lazy about the perdicaments you are placed in. However, the occasional sub-space anomoli which results in a hoard of ninjas ready for battle is acceptable. Just keep it fun!
3. Respect your fellow crew members. As such, you must respect their character and anything you make them say or do should be as accurate as you can possibly manage. If you ever have a question about a character, read up on them, or ask them yourself! They'll be glad to tell you how they would react to a situation, and all the evidence you need is available on the site. Again, you may have a certain character occasionally act out-of-character, but only as long as it is tastefull and does not have a lasting effect on their character. Of coarse, it is impossible to be 100 % accurate all the time, and we don't expect you to be. Just respect that they have an established character, and try to keep it as close as you can.
4. This is a Role Playing Game, and all the rules of an RPG apply. If you as a person knows something, that doesn't mean that your character knows it. If your character is not exceptionally strong, she's not going to be able to pick up cars willy-nilly. If your character is not meant for fighting, she will not be able to go one-on-one with a fighting character and stand any sort of chance. It's all standard practice, but we must clarify that you stick to your character. Of coarse, a character may change over time, and that's acceptable, but don't make your character a 10-year kendo champion the day after a mob starts to attack the studio.

That does sound like a good idea. However, if we're to be handing out our msn to random internet people, you should all be warned that I will revert to my secondary, rp-based email... and who knows what dirt that old thing could dig up. (which would only cuase problems for me, not you guys)

We could use a special MSN address to interview them.
We could also set it up so that we have a storyline set up and the new guy has to finish it or something. It could be one of four random ones so people can't send them to each other in advance.

Since most of these are all good ideas, I don't have a new idea to add, but I like the interview idea.

A random plotline generator... sounds fun. So far, I am liking the msn idea.

I like the MSN interwiev idea too. Although I will probably not be able to participate during the interwievs thanks the the time differences. I also like the idea of making a few rigged stories and see how they would react in that situation. We don't want anyone that, as soon as there is trouble, writes that his/her character does some 'My-character-is-the-best' move and then all is well.
Like if he/she had written in the Hashid story when Hashid became the large insectoid monser that he/she just jumped 30 feet up in the air, pulled out a light saber and cut Hashid in two ending the battle and bringing peace back to the land. =P
We don't want anyone who might ruin the plotlines we work so hard to make. Not that i have been part of the making of any plotline yet but hopefully I will be in the future =)

I'm still here, life just's been putting me through the ringer as of late. Though, I'm not sure about using MSN messenger, because we might get members that want to join without it. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's compatible with Macs. Not that I'm in that boat, I just need to find the back up disk I copied it to.) It seems easier to me to use the board's PM system and cut the middle man out. Either way, I just need to figure out an appropriate personality for Mr. Black and read up on his latest activity in order for Mr. Slade (the NF-style Gunslinger's name) to get involved at the studio, since I still plan for him to be a janitor. Either way, I'm still in in and just about ready I think. Well, good day. Edit: Ah frell, I didn't notice how long it's been since anyone posted in this thread. Er, sorry about this. Well, good day once again.

Well I'd say that right now it would be hard for anyone to join but I plan on ending this plot as soon as possible now... What happens after that, I have no idea...

Well Gunslinger, if you're still interested, I think we could manage some way of meeting with you some time. Sorry you're going to have to kinda be the guinie pig for this application process, but I'll talk with the other NC members and see what we can't work out for ya. If you are still interested, just send me or Ayame a PM reguarding the matter.
